Today we gathered in Westerville for our Run/Walk for the Ukrainian Language to honor Ukrainians who were killed for protecting their language. By walking and running together, we carried forward the voices that russia tried to silence, but never succeeded, because by killing them, their voices got amplified.![]()

We want to thank everyone who came out today, especially those who drove all the way from Athens, Ohio just to join us. Thank you, ladies! ![]()
Everyone’s presence, their blue and yellow, their energy mattered so much! ![]()

Together we raised $325 for medical supplies, but even more importantly, we raised awareness. The Ukrainian language is worth defending, because it carries Ukrainian history, culture, and FUTURE. Russia has always understood this. That’s why the first thing it does in occupied territories is impose its language. Remember when Putin said that wherever people speak russian, it’s “russian land”? This is exactly why preserving and speaking Ukrainian is an act of resistance.![]()

History shows us the cost: hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been killed for speaking and protecting their language. Millions more were murdered simply for being Ukrainian. And it’s not just history, it’s happening right now. That’s why Ukraine needs and deserves our continued support.![]()

Сьогодні ми зібралися у Вестервіллі на пробіг «Біжи за українську мову», щоб вшанувати українців, убитих за те, що вони захищали свою мову. Йдучи та біжучи разом, ми несли далі голоси, які росія намагалася заглушити, але не змогла. Бо, вбиваючи їх, вона лише підсилювала їхній голос.![]()

Ми хочемо подякувати всім, хто сьогодні приєднався, особливо тим, хто приїхав здалеку, аж із Афін, Огайо, лише заради цієї події. Дякуємо вам, дівчата! Ваша присутність, ваші синьо жовті кольори, ваша енергія були надзвичайно важливими.![]()

Разом ми зібрали 325 доларів на медичні потреби, але ще важливіше, що ми підняли обізнаність. Українську мову варто захищати, адже в ній живе українська історія, культура та майбутнє. Росія завжди це розуміла. Саме тому перше, що вона робить на окупованих територіях, це нав’язує свою мову. Пам’ятаєте, як путін казав: «Де говорять російською мовою, там завжди Росія»? Саме тому збереження й вживання української мови є актом спротиву.![]()

Історія показує ціну. Сотні тисяч українців були вбиті за те, що говорили й захищали свою мову. Мільйони були знищені лише за те, що були українцями. І це не лише історія, це відбувається зараз. Саме тому Україна потребує й заслуговує на нашу підтримку.![]()

UCAO Board President, Megan Chawansky, is currently on her research sabbatical in Kosovo. In addition to her research on sport in post-conflict settings, she has been able to attend two events organized by the Ukrainian Kosovo ‘Bridges of Friendship’ organization. The first was a celebration of Ukrainian Independence at the Europe House in Prishtina on Tuesday. On Sunday, she ran with Ukrainians and supporters to honor the Heroes of the War.
To honor Ukrainians who died protecting their language, we dedicate this Run/Walk for the Ukrainian Language to them. ![]()

This route around the Memorial Field and Heritage Park is a 2.7 mile route located in Westerville, Ohio across from the Community Center. ![]()

Participants can run/walk at their own speed, either the whole route or a loop around the field. You may run/walk with your dog! No scooters/bicycles. Wearing Blue and Yellow is encouraged.![]()

$25 per family / Donations are also accepted. All proceeds go towards humanitarian aid for Ukraine.![]()

Учасники можуть бігти чи йти у власному темпі: як увесь маршрут, так і лише коло навколо поля. Дозволяється брати з собою собаку! (Самокати та велосипеди заборонені). Одяг у синьо-жовтих кольорах заохочується.![]()
