NEW COURSE: In 2024-25, Ohio State’s Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures department will offer FIRST YEAR UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE, taught by Mykyta Tyshchenko. The autumn course will run under the number Slavic 5194, TWRF from 4:10-5:05 PM in Hagerty Hall 062. Register for class number 36265 or 36264. In spring we should have Ukrainian 1102 (the second semester) already approved as an official course in the catalogue and available to continue your studies! For those not currently enrolled as a student at OSU, here are some options for how to take part in these courses:> High school students can enroll through the College Credit Plus program—they’ll need to get in touch with their school administration to get started. It is supposed to be free to the student and their family.> Community members over 60 can enroll in classes through Program 60—in language classes in general at Ohio State, there are often older people (re)learning a heritage language. Information on that can be found here: program60.osu.edu/ Tuition is free for Program 60, but there may be some small administrative fees.> Anyone can sign up for classes as a non-degree student through Extended Education, though it has a cost associated with it, unlike the other programs: extendeded.osu.edu/ Ohio State (and I believe Wexner Medical Center) employees and some of their family members may qualify for tuition assistance as an employment benefit—information can be found on HR’s website. ...
